Book Direct with the Owner at The Colonist Tavern in Norwood with Tourism TAS for all your restaurant and entertainment needs.
The Colonist Tavern was built way back in 1851 and has been subjected to so many dodgy renos throughout the decades. The best way to describe the interior now is cool, quirky, grunge & glitter. What we've done now is peeled back the layers to expose the interior in some of its original and raw form (the grunge). Then we have added some fantastic artwork, vintage lighting & furniture (the glitter). The stand out features are the Klimt, "Tree Of Life" replica hand painted mural by Sandra Anderson in the intimate formal dining room & the Ice Chandelier (yes real ice) by Nick Folland in the main bar.

Always a great place to start the day, if it's starting at around 10AM. The Colonist offers a good range of brunch style offerings done well. Sitting back watching life slowly happen around you, while sipping on a rich, well made espresso and allowing the pace of life to settle for a moment. If, on the other hand, your needing a kickstart after the night before, try one of their Bloody Mary's, it'll get you back and moving.
Fantastic decor, the icicle chandelier was a huge stand out for me. I'm trying to figure out how I can get one in my house. In every room. Because it'd be... *puts on sunglasses* ...cool. On a less punny note, the staff were glorious, the vibe is super relaxed, and the menu (which I have yet to sample) looks delicious - I'm sure to back in short order.
